Synopsis
Meet Mary Lincoln in Mrs. President: A Visit With Mary Lincoln. In this one-actor play written and performed by MaryAnne Mathews, the audience has an opportunity to visit Mrs. Lincoln near the end of her life. Mrs. Lincoln reminisces about her childhood in Lexington, Ky., her years in Springfield, Ill., and some of the later events of her life. Performances can be tailored to children (30-40 minutes) or general audience (approximately hour), with a question and-answer session following. The production is suited to theaters, libraries, museums, schools, and civic groups.

MaryAnne is available to sing historical American music or other folk music. The first two sound clips below are from the CD, "Folks are Talking." Wayfaring Stranger is a traditional ballad; Mountaineers Will Always Be Free is an original composition written and sung by MaryAnne. She plays guitar and hammered dulcimer. NOTE: Music is not included in the play Mrs. President.

Songs and Stories of the Civil War can be tailored to a time slot of 30 to 60 minutes. It features historical music of the time as well as stories about the real people involved in the conflict. MaryAnne plays hammered dulcimer and guitar during this program.
MaryAnne also sings a variety of British, Celtic, and American folk songs.
